I could not believe it when my boyfriend lost his job in March and then I got made redundant in July. I found three letters from the mortgage business saying that were were four months behind with our mortgage payments. I asked Mick, my boyfriend, why our mortgage hadn't been paid. He said that with his job seekers allowance he was only able to pay our bills. I was so cross that he hadn't told me what had been going on.

I got our local paper and searched for work. There were not many jobs around. Mick was quite depressed and was starting to think he might never get a new job. One week later I began to be sick every morning and I was tired. I went to see my doctor and he did some tests. He gave me the shocking news that I was pregnant. This came at the worst time of my life.

I went home and couldn't bear to tell Mick that I was pregnant. Mick told me that he was going to get a paper round so we had enough money to buy food. The money we had was just enough to pay the bills. We had a six month holiday with the mortgage payments.

I went for a scan at my local hospital and they said that I wasn't twelve weeks pregnant but fifteen weeks pregnant. So I had to tell Mick and that news made him very angry. He asked me to have an abortion. So I told him I was pro-life.

Mick got an old caravan given to him by his friend that worked for Select Caravan Insurance. It had been a show caravan. We met up for a walk with his friend George who worked as an insurance salesman for select caravan insurance. George said he knew a place on a farm where we could put the caravan for free. We let out our home to pay for the mortgage.

George told Mick that Select Caravan Insurance were looking for a trainee insurance salesman so he applied for the job. I was so happy when Select Caravan Insurance took Mick on at the firm. At twenty weeks pregnancy I found out I was having a girl. There was no time to get to hospital and she was born on 2 April in our caravan. Our baby girl is called Victoria. We are saving up to be able to move back in to a house.
